Ladyship Mills

Ladyship Mills

Ladyship Mills was an integral part of the textile industry around Halifax and home to Standeven, The Tailors Mill, established here in 1885.

Ladyship Mills, in Northowram, West Yorkshire, once one of the country's most important textile mills, is today perfect for small businesses looking for office space, warehousing, and workshops near Halifax.

HISTORY

At the height of the Standeven business, 700 people were employed at Ladyship Mill, working through the entire process, from compbing and drawing to spinning, weaving, and finishing.

On 15th October 1926 HRH The Prince of Wales, Prince Edward, visited Standeven & Co Ltd to meet with employees. He was presented with two specially woven suit lengths.

Standeven still make some of the finest cloths in the world, exporting to more than 50 countries, from their mill in Bradford.

Ladyship Mills is now home to the highly regarded Ladyship Carpets, among other businesses, continuing the area’s long association with textiles.

LADYSHIP MILLS TODAY

As well as being home to Ladyship Carpets, Ladyship Mills is the centre of a vibrant community.

Halifax Boxing, Sports and Fitness Club is here, along with companies dedicated to paint, auto supplies, an 4X4 overland business and Darkland Brewery.
