Heath House Mills

Heath House Mills

An evocative former cotton mill located in a quiet, picturesque canalside location above Huddersfield.

Heath House Mills in Golcar, near Huddersfield, is a traditional mill building with 108,000 sq ft of modern amenities and superb transport links.

HISTORY

Heath House Mills was built in 1861 by TW Thorpe, with an eye to the Industrial Revolution. It was the perfect location, with a ready supply of water from the natural springs of Bolster Moor high in the Colne Valley. A mill pond was built at the end of Heath House Lane to store the water to power the steam-powered looms.

Families moved to Golcar from Elland and Huddersfield for work, with 21 houses being registered in 1851. At the busiest period in the life of the mill, 97 people were employed.

HEATH HOUSE MILL

Heath House Mill was bought by the Lowry Group in 2007, and has undergone a wide variety of refurbishment work to bring it to the positive working environment it is today.

There are 108,000 sq ft of mill space for a variety of businesses that can also be split into smaller units.

Did you know? Heath House Mills owns its own bus stop at the top of the lane.
